Who is Eve Marie?
I am a freelance editor, writer, and a professional photo researcher and editor. I have loved reading and writing ever since I was a child. Yet, my passion for helping others with their writing bloomed while I was in college, freelance editing on and off for undergraduate students in areas including fiction writing, English literature, business and economics, and psychology.
Today, I remain devoted to helping new and established authors, because I believe in the importance of storytelling—for self-expression, for world-making, for representation and visibility. Freelancing has given me the opportunity to work with so many imaginative, ambitious, and intelligent individuals, and by assisting others I learn more about the writing process and about myself.
Many of my past and loyal clients have penned stories that they fretted would not be well-received or understood by publishers, agents, and/or readers. They have felt comforted by the knowledge that I understand their points of view and want to help foster their creative vision. If you're considering my services, know that I will give your work the thorough treatment it deserves, provide honest feedback, and honor the integrity of your vision.

What are your credentials?
I started Edits by Eve Marie in November of 2014. For one year, I provided self-publishing, independent, and agented authors with extensive feedback on their manuscripts through beta reading and development editing, as well as comprehensive copyediting, line editing, and proofreading.
Apart from my freelance editing experience, I have four years of experience (and counting!) at one of the top book publishers in New York City, where I am still employed. For three of those years, I worked closely with two senior textbook editors and their authors on all stages of manuscript development, from first draft to publication. Now, I’m based in the Trade division as a photo editor and art researcher for an array of fiction and non-fiction titles.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology from Drew University. While attending the university in 2013, I became a recipient of the Edward W. and Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund Writing Fellowship. As part of this fellowship, I helped coach two classes of about twenty students on various aspects of the writing process, from copy editing to developmental editing to outlining.

What do you do in your spare time?
When I’m not editing and working full-time as a photo editor and researcher, I enjoy reading, writing fiction, watching horror films, working out, sketching, cooking, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
